Meet Nikolas Ajagu, The Man Whose Air Jordan 1s Rocked An Inauguration

Inauguration Day isn't just a day for politics and celebration. A pair of fashion-forward attendees shook up social media as President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were sworn into office. Leading the way, bestselling author, podcaster and entrepreneur Michelle Obama emerged as the day's first trending topic on Twitter when she popped out in an immaculate eggplant colored outfit with a gold belt. Moments later, a member of the Harris family, Nikolas Ajagu, stole the show when he was spotted walking down the Capitol steps in a pair of Air Jordan 1 Retro High Dior sneakers. The Vice President's nephew-in-law, Ajagu, quickly made his way to his family as Sen. Amy Klobuchar spoke, but he was already trending on Twitter.

A pair of Air Jordan 1 Retro High Dior sneakers can range anywhere from $2,000 to $19,000 on some sites. One can only imagine what went through a sneakerhead's mind as they watched Ajagu go from celebrating the accomplishment of Vice President Harris to being a social media story himself. NFL All-Pro Joe Haden called Ajagu the father of the "freshest family" on Inauguration Day

"I was wondering who was wearing those Dior Jordans I saw coming down the steps," Netflix personality Sylvia Obell said after learning Ajagu's identity.

Ajagu is not simply the man who wore a pair of extremely rare sneakers on Inauguration Day. He is a graduate of Michelle Obama's alma mater, Princeton University. Over the years, he has worked from being an advisor at PlaySpan to being a top executive at Facebook. He is also the founder of Ecosystem Ventures, a venture capital and strategy consulting firm. Needless to say, it doesn't look like the cost of those sneakers set Ajagu back too much. However, it must've been interesting to hear the Ajagu explain to his wife, Meena Harris, why he spent thousands of dollars on a pair of sneakers. Luckily, it looks like some sneaker brands may took to send him a pair or two of free sneakers in the future.
